Gift Planning provides a way to help donors give to Tufts and reach their philanthropic goals through financial, legal, estate and tax planning. The Gift Planning Office works with donors and their advisers, such as accountants, lawyers and financial planners, to integrate their charitable interests into their estate plans. Examples of these gift vehicles are charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts, charitable gift annuities, pooled income funds, bequests and gifts of retirement plans.

The Gift Planning Communications Coordinator promotes the inclusion of gifts for Tufts in donors' estate plans by executing the marketing activities of the Gift Planning Office through emails and various publications including magazines, newsletters, and direct mail pieces. She/he will seek new ways to promote gift planning including social media, our website (www.tufts.edu/giftplanning), and donor modeling. Type of gifts include revocable commitments (bequest intentions, revocable trusts, gifts of IRAs and other qualified plans) and irrevocable gifts (charitable gift annuities, remainder trusts, lead trusts and pooled income fund gifts) to an audience of Tufts alumni, parents and friends of the University. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

? Drafting and editing content for newsletter in areas including life income and estate gifts and gifts of various assets ? Participating in the development of a direct mail and email strategy for the department including segmentation, collaboration with external vendors, school-based development staff and the Gift Planning Office ? Managing various vendors and freelancers needed to produce pieces (e.g., printers, designers, photographers, etc.). Creating project schedules using in-house scheduling software ? Writing articles, drafting and editing copy for Tufts publications and website ? Developing profiles of students and faculty who have benefitted from planned gifts or donors who have given them. Interviewing subject of profile in collaboration with the Gift Planning Office and school-based development officers ? Communicating regularly with each school to ensure we are meeting their planned giving objectives ? Managing the communications budget ? Tracking responses to marketing efforts and recording data in SunGard Advance Information Management System and using the database to identify potential donors for individual solicitation and mass-mailings ? When appropriate, qualifying leads who respond to marketing materials and providing them with additional information ? Planning stewardship events in collaboration with Special Events office including venue selection, program for Charles Tufts Society members and gift planning prospects ? Planning internal and external educational seminars including program development, logistics, faculty participation, etc.
