THE choice was clear to Kelsie Rimmer when it came to casting a younger version of herself for her first music video.

It had to be sister Ruby.

The 20-year-old Palmwoods musician experienced her first day of filming for the clip to her single The Lost Boys with family and friends by her side.

The song, inspired by a family holiday at Rainbow Beach last year, is all about "the funnest time ever".

Kelsie, Ruby and friends spent Saturday in Redcliffe filming the first few scenes with Cartel Films.

The final product will be intertwined with clips of Kelsie performing her single and shots of Ruby and friends helping tell the story.

There are plans to shoot on the Gold Coast, as well as Noosa, Cotton Tree and Mooloolaba.

"It was my idea to involve Ruby," Kelsie said.

"Cartel Films and I had a meeting about it.

"They said they could get some girls to be in it but I said I wanted my sister and they loved the connection.

"She's 15 and she loves the whole creative industry. She plays piano and is artistic and creative in ways I am. She did a great job on the first day of shooting, everyone did."

Kelsie said shooting a music clip had been a steep learning curve.

She, Ruby and her friends had been surprised by the number of takes needed for a single scene.

"It's the main thing that people don't realise," Kelsie said.

"Sometimes you have to do a scene over and over just to make sure you get the right shot."

She hopes to see her music clip on TV in the next couple of months.
