The image posted above was obtained by?Droid Life?and reported to come from Verizon. The document, if it?s real, confirms the Galaxy Nexus name that?s been thrown around along with Nexus Prime. It also confirms 4G LTE speeds for Google?s upcoming device, along with the usual suite of bluetooth and wifi. It is not a world phone, however, which may disappoint some folks. There?s also been rumor that this would be a Verizon exclusive. We can?t speak to that, but considering the device has appeared first in Verizon?s Data Management system, it is a possibility.
Other reported specs for the Galaxy Nexus include NFC capability for mobile payments, a 1.2GHz dual core processor, likely of Samsung design, a 4.6? Super AMOLED display, thin, curved design, and of course the big one: Ice Cream Sandwich. Google was set to?announce the device and Ice Cream Sandwich on the 11th, but?out of respect for Steve Jobs?they have moved the event to?October 19th in Hong Kong. Google and Samsung are certainly not Apple when it comes to keeping a device secret. Numerous leaks have come out in the last week including a?video walkthrough, leaked?screen shots, and a?partial spec sheet.
All the developers over at RootzWiki are climbing the walls in anticipation of Ice Cream Sandwich, and you can bet that as soon as its available you?ll be able to start flashing custom ROMs based on Android 4.0 in the near future. If you want a taste of Ice Cream before the carriers get you an official update, that will be the place to find it. Their?forums?will, undoubtedly, be filled to bursting with new content as the latest version of Android is made available. Bookmark them and you?ll be able to get the jump on all your friends who haven?t taken the plunge and unleashed the power of their phones and tablets.
And lest we forget,?RootzWiki is going to be giving away 8 of these devices?to members and developers when they hit the shelves! If you don?t want to miss your chance at one, get involved with the site and you may be a lucky recipient!
