New Home Construction Down, Home Improvements Up | Grand Park

Improving your home

Although home construction is down for the year, the number of home improvement permits are increasing.

Grand County property owners haven?t been building a many single family homes this year; in fact, they are only building about half as many as they did last year. However, homeowners are spreading their roots as the amount of overall home projects like new garages, additions, decks, finished basements, etc are on the rise, according to a Sky Hi Daily News article.

The housing market has been rough in recent years, and banks haven?t been as willing to lend out money for potential homeowners. People have instead been investing in their own homes and boosting their resale value. The increasing number of permits going out for home improvements is encouraging for the county.

Even commercial building is down in the area, Fraser?s only commercial building permit belongs the upcoming movie theater/bowling alley being built in the Grand Park Community. ?
