Fresh iPhone Apps for Aug. 15: Boxee for iPad, RecyclePix, The Last Rocket, Mega Mall Story (Appolicious)

Make sure you get your Internet video fix this week with today?s leading Fresh App, Boxee for iPad. It brings all the videos your friends are tweeting and posting on Facebook about, plus the most popular clips from around the Internet, so you?ll always have something entertaining to watch. Between bouts of laughter, you can use RecyclePix to earn rewards for recycling, as well as sharing photos with your friends. In games, The Last Rocket brings some 8-bit puzzle-solving to your iOS devices, and Mega Mall Story will have you spending hours trying to manage the best, most profitable mall anyone?s ever seen.

Video sharing service Boxee already had an iPhone app in the App Store, but now the service has released a version optimized specifically for the iPad. It works by allowing you to tie-in to your various social networks to aggregate all the video links that your friends share on service such as Twitter, YouTube and Facebook and view them all in one place, along with popular videos from around the Internet.

Boxee lets you stream your videos over a Wi-Fi connection, so you don?t have to download and convert anything, and the app also lets you access your own videos from your PC or Mac. It includes social networking controls so you can share your favorites with others, as well.

RecyclePix is an app meant to encourage users to recycle whenever possible, and it does so by creating a photo-sharing ecosystem similar to what you might see on Instagram or Facebook. You take photos of yourself recycling and share them through the app, and not only do you get to show off your green lifestyle to your friends, you also earn rewards.

Points earned through RecyclePix can be applied to lots of stuff you already buy ? things like discounts on movie tickets through Fandango or travel expenses. The app also includes sharing options for services such as Facebook and Twitter so you can get friends in on the RecyclePix action too.

As one of the last rockets manufactured at the end of a galactic war, your job isn?t to destroy, but to save. The Last Rocket has you work your rocket through side-scrolling levels where your job is to avoid spikes and grab gears to repair the main computer and save its data before your missile construction facility is destroyed. That means using fans to redirect your progress and carefully navigating each level to avoid exploding.

The Last Rocket comes with 64 puzzle levels and carries with it an old-school, 8-bit aesthetic. It also includes its own achievements, a 12-track chiptunes soundtrack and multiple endings that can be earned as you work through the game.

Another in the management simulations from Kairosoft, the developer of Game Dev Story, Mega Mall Story is a lot like the freemium title Tiny Tower. Your goal is to manage your mall and bring it from a tiny no-name place up to a five-star mall that makes all kinds of money. You?ll need to add stores, expand your mall and even invest in the surrounding area.

Your work on your mall will span several ?years? in game time, which will include sale season and up and down economies along the way. The better your mall is, the more you can expand and invest to build an even better mall. The game officially ends once you hit five-star status, but you can keep expanding and building endlessly if you like.
